State Sees Large Increase In Concealed Weapons Permits

Our state is at an all-time high for people who obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit. It's nearly 10,000 more this year as of October than the number of applicants in 2008. The total number of people with the permit is around 100,000 for the whole state.
The current debate on gun control is a matter of opinion. I personally find it terrifying that these numbers are rising given the current economic and societal conditions. It's hard to find a job and people are mad. More people than ever are getting concealed weapon permits meaning they can take their concealed weapons anywhere except churches, hospitals, schools, and government buildings. The process is pretty simple and the actual permit only costs $50.
With the current rates of such high property crime, the last thing we need is more people getting concealed weapons and carrying them around everywhere, in my opinion.
Guns cause far too many accidents and could be prevented if we did not give out permits so easily. However, people wish to pursue their rights to bear arms so it will be.
